On April 10, 2010, family, friends, and I took a field trip to Los Angeles. This was hosted by the Lancaster Photographic Association (LPA) and led by me but it was also a personal adventure. In total there were six of us but I'm posting only family photos here.
My thanks to those who helped put this together and to the LA Conservancy which provided us with a knowledgeable and patient docent (guide).
The field trip was actually more like five short trips.
MetroLink Down: We started out by checking our camera settings and playing with some settings I wasn't familiar with. I forgot to check my lens which was set to manual focus instead of auto focus so many of the first photos were too blurry to use. The unfamiliar setting resulted in some of the early photos being in B/W, but that worked out OK.

Union Station: We got to the station and decided to take some time photographing the variety of things we saw. The station also had a small garden area that offered interesting subjects. We then went down to the subway where we took many photos, until the officials told us we couldn't take photos of the trains or tracks, something about security. But they didn't take our memory chips or make us delete anything.

Art Deco Tour: The LA Conservancy offers tours of various parts of LA City Center. The one we took was specific to architecture from the Art Deco period.

Olvera Street: Because we took extra time on the tour we were a little late getting to Olvera St. All we had time for was a nice mexican lunch and a short walk around the plaza then back into Union Station.
MetroLink Back: By the time we got back onto the train we were all tired but happy. For a short time all the adults fell asleep until the sheriff came by to check our tickets. I hope to get back down sometime to take more photos.
